Square Enix hasn’t had the best conferences at E3. Most of the time their games appear at either XBOX or Sony and so they end up showing the same stuff again. With no Sony this year they have gone with having a full on conference instead of a pre-recorded video. So lets see what they have for us, sit back and enjoy some quality content. If you want to catch the full conference you can watch it here, or you can have a look down below for something that tickles your fancy.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Made the right choice with FF 7 being showcased first. Not only was the hype real but I don’t think people would have waited without rioting. The big pull of it all was seeing combat in action, we also got a nice deep dive into how it works. It all finished with a extended trailer that showcased a bunch of stuff but lets be serious, seeing Tifa in game was something special. To then also get her and Arith fighting was amazing. The release date of 3.03.2020 was showed off again along with a collectors edition.
Life is strange 2
This was a little weird, there was no new trailer for the next episode or anything else new. Just a bunch of scenes from the released episodes and streamers reacting to them. I haven’t played the game yet but luckily I’m not as serious about spoilers. Did you get spoiled let me know down below in the comments.
FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered
So obviously showing off one Final Fantasy isn’t enough. In comes Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, a game I never played but now can enjoy on my switch. Cause if your not re-releasing your games on switch then your doing something wrong
Octopath Traveler released on stream not too long ago and Square doesn’t want you forgetting that. If you don’t have a switch (you need to get one) and have a PC, I’d suggest picking it up.
THE LAST REMNANT Remastered
Another port and another game I get to pick up on my switch. I remember seeing copies of The Last Remnant in stores when I was younger but never picked it up. Now that I’m older I find myself going back to games I missed, hopefully Last Remnant doesn’t disappoint.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
I have no skill with building stuff but Builders 2 is looking like a good combination of minecraft and Dragon Quest.
Dragon Quest 10 Switch
We got another look at Dragon Quest 10 for the switch but nothing really different then previous trailers. I would have like some DLC to be announced along side it but we can’t have everything.
Square Enix Collective
The Square Enix Collective got to strut its stuff with a video showing off their releases these past couple of years.
After looking at the past we got a look at one of their new titles. These smaller game show how Square is looking to help more indie developers get their games out into gamer hands.
Battalion also got some screen time to remind you it is out on steam now.
SQUARE ENIX MUSIC
If you haven’t heard, Square has given access to a massive collection of Final Fantasy music across multiple games. You can find it on a range of different services, so check out the trailer to see if your preferred service is one of them.
Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind
We got this a day ago but what is Square without some Kingdom Hearts randomness to decipher. I’m pumped for some DLC and my face contorting into a confused mess at the end of it.
Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers
FF XIV’s new expansion was a bit of a surprise considering the massive amount of info we got just a couple of weeks ago. Saying that who am I to turn down a epic story trailer.
Dying Light 2
More gameplay of Dying Light 2 is a nice surprise. I’m just not sold on the game yet though. Not sure if it is the colour pallet or how empty this zombie filled world should be but there’s still time for it to grow on me.
Romancing Saga 3 & SaGa SCARLET GRACE: AMBITIONS
More JRPG’s coming west and to the switch!
War of the Visions FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS
More Final Fantasy is never a bad thing and if your into mobile games then Square Enix has you covered.
New IP by People Can Fly and it looks to take an interesting direction with it’s setting and monsters. I’m very interested in what the final product will be.
Oninaki is more JRPG goodness with some solid looking action gameplay and it looks gorgeous. Sign me up!
FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered
Since the greatest Final Fantasy is getting a remake, it makes sense to give the lesser ones a chance to shine. Even if said shine is just a remaster, I expect many people will just be happy to play it again.
Square played it smart putting it’s two most expected games at the start and finish of their conference. You should really just watch the full Avengers presentation below to enjoy the full reveal. Though if your interested in the cliff notes. We get to see the game in action (no UI or how gameplay works), Taskmaster shows up, get to meet the main cast, deep dive into the game, extra characters and regions will be free, no lootboxes!!, coming to all platforms except for switch, PS4 exclusives and early beta access planned. Finally we got a release date of May 15th 2020.
It was a big conference by Square and I think they had something for everyone there. I’m especially happy that they improved upon previous years and changed up the format. I hope they take what they learnt and use it for all their future gaming events. As for the games, I’m a very happy gamer though my wallet won’t be by the time we hit 2020. We have one more conference tomorrow with Nintendo and I’m personally hoping for some big surprises. If you’ve been missing out on the E3 news, you can read my coverage of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, XBOX’s conference and Ubisofts.
